best christmas present ever

Last night I received the best christmas present ever from Hannah Reader. She made it for me.

It is my boo buddy.

I took this picture looking right at him.

I had to set the camera up and turn my back to take this picture.

This is the best present ever. It is one of a kind. I am the only one with this perfect boo pillow.

If you are having trouble remembering what this boo buddy is from, it is from the best video game ever: Super Mario World.

Don’t mess with a boo buddy.

Wonders: The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get

When you sleep
I will creep into your thoughts
like a bad debt that you can’t pay
take the easy way and give in

I love this song from “Vauxhall and I,” an album that I wasn’t immediately fond of. Now it is my favorite Morrissey solo album (do I need to use “solo” when I say it’s a Morrissey album, or is that reduntant?). A four hour math homework session in Eugene with this album on repeat really made it grow on me, and it sort of defined my summer.

It reminds me of how hot it was, and laying on the lawn, and living in awesome, awesome chaos.

Anyway, “The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Gethas an awesome guitar hook (reminiscent of Strangeways era Smiths) and the typical Moz wit. Why, this could be the most charming song about stalking and infatuation of all time!

The tongue-in-cheek creepiness of the song is great, and I was really disappointed that he didn’t play it at the concert.

However – I have noticed that they do have this at karaoke bars sometimes. It is totally my next song!

lion heads

end of year 2007

ain’t what it’s cracked up to be

Ahh.. I’m home. To clarify.

End of the year should be relaxing and less stressful than the rest of the year, right?

WRONG! It should be stressful! And I don’t even get stressed out. But I am. Place of employment is insane right now and I feel myself getting super stressed out. Now, I sort of pride myself in being pretty easy going about work things, and I only freaked out one time in college (when I was writing a 100 page paper, so can you blame me?).

But oh man, I don’t know if it’s because I have some personal things on my mind lately, or because all the pressure from a lot of people at work, or what. But it is a real relief to get home lately.

So there is that short post, explained. Salut!

I’m ready to go around the world. The following post is a story about my ride home last night, and it contains a lot of motorcycle talk.

Maybe you’ll find it interesting? The story, plus more is after the jump.

Sportos on my doorstep

I’m at work, with 3 hours of sleep.

I’m delirious.

“Anyhoo…”

I’m going up to Oregon on Sunday to to do the holiday thing. This means the usual: Christmas Eve day relaxation, contemplating shaving for church that evening, then madness all day next.

I’m excited for the madness, as I miss my family.

I’m coming back to L.A. for New Years, but who knows what is going on for that?

And who knows whats going to happen after the year turns to 2008.

Not Dick Clark.

I made the greatest GBV/Robert Pollard mix ever. I just need to tweak ONE song at the end.

I’m tired of sitting in front of a computer all day.

I’m reading Jupiter’s Travels and it is the most incredible book ever. I’m reading it pretty slowly, wich is a first for me. I usually blow through books I’m really into over a weekend.

And finally – big things are happening.

P.S. I just received a handwritten card from some company in Canada wishing me Happy Holidays and giving me a Starbucks gift card. Bizarre. I don’t know any of these people on the card, or the company. And I don’t drink Starbucks.

hot sidecars

Some days, the second part of Strong Lion really just sums it up.

Sure as I’m dying here,
the problem is solved.
Yeah and it hurts to know
you won’t be involved

But I can beat you to the strong side
right away!
I’ll meet you today..

‘Cus I’m a strong lion – been tryin’!
The lord likes me that way..
Tryin’ – still fighting..
The boys like me that way

i can see my dog

otter pops, otter pops, oh otter otter otter..

otter pops.

SPOILER ALERT:

My Christmas bonus may go to this:

(Imagine this, but with a bench seat, and lots of rust and dents)

I’m crossing my fingers that I get an email back.

I’m bringing my pinball machine back from Oregon. I think that will be the last of it. I’ll also bring my old motorcycle boots down and gloves and stuff. JUST IN CASE I get a dirtbike in 2008.

I realized I have only bought a few albums that were released in 2007. I’m not sure I will do a “Top Albums” of 2007 post this year. I know you are crushed. But feel not crushed. (Standard Gargoyle Decision joke)

I’m hungry. I’ve only eaten breakfast foods today.

This week it became winter in Los Angeles. Sunny, but cold. Oh well, it is almost over.

I’m excited to see my family. I’m excited about tonight. I’m excited in general.

Year in review post coming soon?

Place of employment holiday party tomorrow.

Listening to Robert Pollard + Doug Gillard…

..and I can’t figure out why they split up Soft Smoke and Same Things – these both are obviously stronger as one song.

Ok, enough with the break, I’m back to working on my scooter for the big night tonight.

Name the 20 best moments in your life. Now count how many of those happened while sitting in your living room.

Life is short, kids.

it’s like soul, man

I can’t stop smiling.

Life is cruel.

it finally happened

I got caught doing 60 in a 40 today. I was splitting lanes and in a hurry, and I saw a motorcycle cop right by the Santa Monica Airport. I knew I was nabbed, so I just pulled over. He came up a few seconds later and said “kinda fast for splitting lanes, don’t you think?”

He was nice though, and I was hoping he would let me off. I’ve heard lots of stories of motorcycle cops letting off guys on motorcycles. This wasn’t the case, though. He dropped it to 55 in a 40, which I’m guessing is about 300 dollars. But I get to go to traffic school to clear my record. Whopeee!

Despite this, nothing can kill my mood, which has been blissfully happy for the last few days.
