so you think you can’t dance?

UPDATE: Hello everyone from bloggingsytycd.blogspot.com! Be sure to let me know how you’d improve your favorite show in the comments. Like this “Wheel of Misfortune” idea: Partner replaced with sloth (a slow, but talented sloth).

Part 2 of the Beach Invasion Rally write-up is coming later tonight. It’s because last night I chose to hang out with Charley and Isabelle and, among other things, watch my first episode of “So You Think You Can Dance?”

First off – I know I can’t dance – but these people on the show can. They can dance! They don’t think, they do. They do dance.

Which is part of the problem.. they are too good! Where is the tripping, the dropping, the bloody noses and broken limbs? Although I was very impressed and entertained by the dance routines, they were all performed pretty much flawlessly. So I thought up a few things that would spice up the show.

1. Hidden “danger spots”

Imagine this – the entire dancefloor has hidden danger spots. If one or both of the dancers happen to step on this spot, one of many “dangers” can happen to them! Some ideas: springboard, flames, sandbags drop from ceiling, tiger gets released, super bright strobe light turns on, floor starts shaking, etc.

2. Wheel of Misfortune

Before the dance, they have to spin the wheel of misfortune! Most spaces will have nothing on it, but if they are unfortunate enough to land on a “bummer tile,” they could have some of the following misfortune applied to their dance: partner gets replaced by cadaver, must dance blindfolded, partners switch shoes, song changed to Kriss Kross’ “Jump (Gonna Make Ya), or you must dance while holding a small goldfish bowl (spilling disqualifies).

3. Hold show in space

This would be great! Dancing in low gravity! There would also be cats floating around.

Hopefully next season the producers take some of my suggestions to heart. If they do, I’m subscribing to cable, hands down!

    Hell yes.

But this wouldn’t be exactly dancing. Would it be?

It would be DANCING PLUS! Think of it as “ultra modern” dancing with a crazy twist.

Admit it.. you want this at least for one episode!

    “Dancing with Robot Wars”

One part So You Think You Can Dance and two parts Robot Wars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Wars

Maybe they could even let the other competitors control the robots.

New Danger Spot: Gravity Reverses! Whoopsy daisy!

How about “So You Know You Can’t Dance”?! The contestants would get pushed onto the stage by their girlfriends/boyfriends and then just kind of stand around awkwardly with their arms folded until they finally shuffled around a little and then ran away crying.

I like this idea the most

Kiala! Seriously! I told you I wasn’t crying, my eyes were just all watery!

I have that problem sometimes too, Dane. Sometimes when I miss a shot in pool, some of the chalk will fly into my eye, and it will make it look like I’m uncontrollably sobbing for 5-15 minutes!
