I ain’t no god damn son of a bitch
Here is the wine-fueled week in review.
I was sick!
Wednesday I went to see “I’m Not There” which is the movie that is about Bob Dylan, but isn’t really about Bob Dylan. I’m glad I saw it, but I don’t really want to ever watch it again. The highlight was hanging out with my friend Avi. We got some drinks afterward, and reminisced, and talked about how ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends should stop existing. I gave a mural artist my phone number and he called me 4 times and left 4 text messages, until I called him and told him to stop calling me.
I called in sick the next day, because I was. I defeated Street Fighter II. I drank some drinks. Did you really think that you were the only one?
It was raining today. I got wet on the way to work, but it felt nice. I went to work and got a promotion. I came home and drank wine. I watched the rest of “Apocalype Now Redux” and realized that it is not only a film but an insane masterpiece. I called Jim. I called Charley. Jaxon got home. We talked.
I called (secret).
I’m calling Dave right now. I hope I don’t get his voicemail. We need to discuss the Bourne films.
He wasn’t there! I left a message.
I’m putting on a record, and thinking of you dear reader.

Top/Bottom 5 Movies of 2007
I know it is only November, but I’m pretty sure this list won’t change in the next 30 days. In fact, the amount of quality movies I saw in the theatre this year was so low, a top 5 was no problem. The bottom five was the toughest list!
Living in Los Angeles presents a catch-22 situation: we get a lot more movies but they cost a lot more. In fact, all five movies on this list were either a limited run in only New York or Los Angeles, or I saw them during their limited opening a few weeks before they went wide. I’m sure there is something to be said about that. But I’m not gonna!
So, the list is after the jump:

Westside Scooter Club on the Internets
Watch this 5 minute spot on my scooter club, along with some great shots of Club Soulside. And, if you have the eagle eye, you can catch me at 3:34 riding up on my Primavera.
Here is the link, because the embedding doesn’t work.
Tomorrow I ride out for the “Classic Not Plastic” vintage ride in the Southbay.
In other news, my Honda is fixed and tip top. And FAST. And slick as snails. Basically, I made it better than ever. I love my garage!

Where’s the paper bag that holds the liquor?
I came to my desk this morning, and there was a little bottle of Vodka on it!
Turns out, my place of employment’s holiday bash is going to take place at Santa Monica Airport, a mere 5 minutes from my apartment!
HOT TIMES, GREAT OLDIES, DRUNK PILOTS

Tonight, grease tonight.
First things first. Focus all your positive thoughts, or prayers, or meditate, or do whatever you do and think about my friend Jenny’s Dad, who has a brain tumor and is in surgery as we speak. It can’t hurt.
Dad’s are amazing. I talked to my Dad this evening for about 45 minutes. He told me stories about how he used to work in Edison and during slow nights he and his buddies would tear apart guy’s dirt bike engines in the control room and fix them up. Then they would fire them up and ride around the power plant, leaving blue smoke and loud noise everywhere. I get a lot of motorcycle advice from my Dad, because he is a genius when it comes to that stuff. If I ever become half the person my Dad is, I’ll have succeeded in life.
So, leading into that. I’ve been working on my bike this past two nights – pretty much nonstop. Hold on, I need to put on some music.
It was time for some “Devils and Dust.”

Now Showing!
You may enjoy the new header above. Well, let me show you the entire thing:

I don’t even know what to say. This was in the parking lot at In N’ Out. The car was the most busted-ass Mazda van I’ve ever seen. I saw this on the back window and couldn’t leave until I took a picture. The kicker is that in my haste.. I didn’t notice the misspelling until I got home.
The “O” in “BORD” is totally a zero. You can tell, Billy Corgan.
Depressing? Here is one to cheer you up:

It’s free cheese. Just push.

This was my lunch today
It was 83 degrees out, and the sun was too hot to wear a jacket on my motorcycle.

It was a perfect day out.
Unfortunately, I made a dipshit move when I got home. I was repairing my chain, and I thought I did something that I didn’t do, and when I drove it down the alley it threw my chain and fucked up a lot of stuff. It locked my back wheel up 20 feet from my garage, and I couldn’t free the chain to push it to where all my tools were. I had to try and fix it enough on the road. The chain is majorly fucked up and who knows what the sprocket looks like. It is in pieces in my garage right now. I’ll be working on this all day Saturday, instead of doing what I was planning on doing.
Good thing I enjoy working on my bikes.

Hear ye, Hear ye: ’tis L.A. Guided By Voices Day
![]()
All ye who live in Los Angeles shall drink 38 Bud Lights, 4 shots of Tequila, do 10-12 high leg kicks, and swing a microphone around all day whilst listening to “Gold Star For Robot Boy!”
The end of L.A. GBV day shall be marked with the toasting of a Robert Pollard poster, whilst listening to “Drinker’s Peace.” Follow this immediately with “Don’t Stop Now” and a Rolling Rock.
COMMENCE!

Record Weekend: Day 2
Only hit Amoeba today – but it was a good haul. On the Robert Pollard front, at least.
Airport 5 – Tower In The Fountain of Sparks
Robert Pollard – Waved Out
Robert Pollard and his Soft Rock Renegades – Choreographed Man of War
Go Back Snowball – Calling Zero (this is fucking brilliant)
And the first English Beat record on Vinyl, “I Just Can’t Stop It.”
Also saw “American Gangster” and it was good.
Now eating this weird gouda/parmesan hybrid cheese.
Life is good.

Record shopping weekend: Day 1
Day two will be at Amoeba, House of Records, and any small place that could be full of treasures.
1. Exene Cervenka – Running Sacred
I’ve only listened to a little of it, but I really liked her last album. This was only 2 dollars.
2. The Walkmen – A Hundred Miles Off
I guess I used to listen to this album at the record store? I don’t remember why I picked it up. I haven’t listened to it yet.
3. The Gun Club – Fire of Love
This is the score of the trip. EFF YES. Sex Beat, For the Love of Ivy, Ghost on the Highway (which Exene covered on her last album)
4. Trojan 35th Anniversary Box Set
Add another to the collection. Pretty spotty collection though. There is an Untouchables track on the 2nd disc though.
5. Guided By Voices – The Electrifying Conclustion
I’ve already watched this. It is the most amazing concert video you will ever see. They have their own bar on-stage, and the entire set (including 2 encores) tops out at around 80 songs. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A CONCERT WHERE THEY PLAYED 80 EFFING SONGS? Brian Wilson played like 25 and I couldn’t believe it. This is the ultimate (and final) GBV show.
Let’s see what I get tomorrow!
Looked for (but didn’t find):
Deadbolt
Earthquake Glue

A blog a day at sinpies
Charley at Sinpies is writing a blog post a day for 30 days. The best part is, if he fails he said I get to beat “the ever-living fuck” out of him!
In other news, I had this awesome email I was ready to share, along with all these web pages about this guy and stuff, but then I found out he is mentally ill, so now I feel bad and I can’t share.
Time to party!
